Daytona Beach, Fla.– Daytona concluded a truly remarkable season for Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR) in the Trans Am presented by Pirelli’s TA2 Presented by AEM. The team finished the year with Marc Miller in the SMR No. 40 Prefix 40th Anniversary Dodge Challenger first and Dillon Machavern second in the championship driving the SMR Liqui Moly Ford Mustang. The Joe Stevens-owned Stevens-Miller Racing also won team of the year, and team driver and series champion Marc Miller received the inaugural SUNOCO Marc Donahue award for engineering excellence.
Stevens said, “All of these awards were hard fought and would not have been possible without excellent teamwork throughout the 2019 season. All my drivers, techs, and team gave everything to achieve this. Their families, too. When you figure in the travel time many of the races were essentially back to back so it took a tremendous effort by all. I also must thank our supports and partners, Prefix, Howe, Liqui Moly, Berryman Products, Sabelt, Pagid, Pro Systems, Wix, ProcureIt, and so many others. Without them this would not have been possible.”
The SMR team featured a number of Arrive & Drive customers throughout the season including Brian Swank, Alex Wright, Drew Neubauer, JP Southern Jr., Jordan Dick, Debbie Cloud, and 2018 Australian TA2 champion, Ashley Jarvis.
“We had a season of seasons,” team owner Stevens said. “Our Arrive & Drive program is top-notch. We kept the mechanical issues to a minimum and that speaks volumes about my guys and the preparation of our cars. It’s never perfect and this year had its share of disappointments and challenges, but every time we came back stronger and I could not ask for more.
“After the fun and excitement of such a thrilling year, we must now focus on gathering what’s necessary to do it again in 2020. I can guarantee it will only get harder to continue this success. My goal and focus is building a team and legacy that can continue for years to come.”
