During the extended break, Stevens-Miller Racing (SMR) has wasted no time in its preparation for continued success. “My entire team of mechanics and drivers are thrilled to get back to action at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course event with SVRA, Trans Am, and F3, F4,” SMR Owner Joe Stevens said.

The team has just returned from Mid-Ohio as they prepare to return to action.

“The test went very well as we set the pace among the other TA2 teams testing for the upcoming race,” he said.

The 2019 TA2 Championship and current points-leading team are now back at the shop with two weeks to complete their rigorous maintenance schedule and make some final tweaks and adjustments before loading up to head back to the famed Ohio circuit.

“Our goals are what they have always been,” Stevens said. “Give it all we have and focus on what matters most – finishing strong and staying safe. Big thanks to Berryman Products, Liqui Moly USA / Canada, Sabelt, Pagid Racing, Prosystems brakes, and ProcureIt Network for ensuring our continued success during these difficult times.”

Winner of the opening round at Sebring Driver Mike Skeen said, “Coming away from the season opener with a victory is always good. But that certainly puts a target on our No. 77 Liqui Moly, Turn 14 Distribution, Howe Racing, Chevrolet Camaro for the rest of the field. The Stevens-Miller Racing guys did everything right for me at Sebring and I expect nothing less at Mid-Ohio. I’d love to keep the momentum going with a solid run. We are pretty much restarting the year, so we need to set the pace for the rest of the championship run!

“Given all the incredible events in our country and around the world, it will be great to get back to racing, Skeen continued. “It will be good to offer the fans at home some great action even if they can’t come to see us in person just yet. Trans Am’s new live streaming could not have come at a better time for the series or the fans.”

Drivers JP Southern Jr. and Alex Wright are excited that the season returns to racing at their home track.

Wright said, “Following our test, I’m more excited for what’s to come at my home track, Mid-Ohio. This place is known for the intense, nonstop door-to-door battling and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. Last season we finished just outside the top 10 and I’d love to be a part of that with my Berryman Products Camaro this year. TA2 is tough, especially in the mid-field. There are a bunch of great cars and experienced drivers.”

“After being on break from racing for so long, I and Stevens Miller Racing are hungrier than ever for the chance to win at Mid-Ohio,” JP Southern Jr. said. “Being my home race, it’s a special race and some of my best supporters will be in attendance. SMR has my Pitt Race, ProcureIt Network Camaro in top form. Racing at home and having friends and family will provide a huge boost of confidence. I’m looking forward to not only our first race back but the rest of the season as well!”

“I can’t lie, it’s been tough,” Stevens said. “But SMR is more than ready to be back at the track doing what we love – racing for championships. Like everyone, we’ve had to face some unusual and unexpected challenges during these past months. I have to take time and recognize my guys and their families. I also want to thank our sponsors, suppliers, and Trans Am for their efforts. It’s times like these that help us realize how fortunate we are to be safe and to be able to do what we love to do. We’ll be releasing our updated 2020 drivers list in the near future and we could not be more excited about the season ahead. It’s good to be back!”
